  • Floris Fine Art is an art collective united by a passion for painting flowers, which have become the central motif in our still life practice. Flowers demand our careful attention and deserve our stillness. Our practice is a daily meditation and a never-ending investigation into how to distill their complex structures into dynamic, gestural yet considered brush strokes. Manet said that, ‘A painter can say everything he wants with fruits or flowers’ and regarded still life as the ‘touchstone of painting’. The formal elements in still life candidly reveal the painter’s touch and capture a moment of fleeting intensity between artist and subject. We are delighted to be showing our work at The Gallery Green & Stone during a very special week of floral celebration coinciding with The Chelsea Flower Show 2023 and Chelsea in Bloom.

  • Felicity Starr is predominantly a self taught artist and has developed her practice through daily painting. Rich in meaning and symbolism her preferred genre is still life, particularly flowers. Felicity paints in the Realist tradition influenced by Impressionism. Felicity grew up 17km west of Paris, near Bougival, known as "the Cradle of Impressionism". Consequently, her process is ‘alla prima’ and uses lots of paint to create a textured surface. Her brush strokes are visible to form an important part of the narrative when describing her subject matter. Felicity regularly exhibits at the Mall Galleries with various societies including the Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.

  • Penny German is an oil painter from Northamptonshire whose practice developed from many years of daily still life painting. Penny’s work is deeply rooted in nature, the changing of seasons and the effects of light on her subject matter. Her work explores a stillness and serenity which belies the complexity of the floral forms depicted in her masterful still life setups. Penny is represented by Nadia Waterfield and the Harbour Gallery, she regularly exhibits at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Chelsea Art Society.

  • Sophie M Cook is an oil painter from London now living in Kent. Sophie originally trained as a Scenic Artist at RADA and went on to paint scenery for West End Theatres and TV, She later developed her art practice studying Drawing and Painting at the London Atelier of Representational Art. Sophie has worked professionally for over 8 years and is represented by Highgate Art Gallery and British Contemporary Art, she has exhibited at the Russell Gallery, Bath Society of Artists and Chelsea Arts Society.

  • Rosemary Lewis completed a Foundation Art Course at St Martin’s College of Art and Design and then went on to direct her own studies into the techniques of the late 19th and 20th century Realist and Impressionist oil painters. For Rosemary, painting has become her means of exploring and connecting with the visual world and communicating to others the feelings it inspires. She is especially drawn to the complexity of flowers as a subject and aims to portray the way light reveals their forms, textures and colours to produce evocative floral still life paintings.
