The idea for this exhibition began as a way to bring together the paintings of emerging young artists who share an interest in plein air painting. From this, it became more about an artist's different ways of observing and interpreting their subjects. While some of them might take their paints out into the landscape, others paint from memory, look to art history or add more fantastical imagery to everyday experience. They all imbue their paintings with sensation beyond the literal interpretation and are involved with the pleasure of painting itself.
