About Florencia Galan Camps

Florencia Galán Camps was born in Córdoba, Argentina. She studied History at the National University of Córdoba and completed her PhD at the Torcuato Di Tella University, specialising in 19th and 20th century history. She has been a researcher at CONICET as well as other academic institutions she teaches at.

Florencia was born into a family of architects and artists, where sensorial stimuli were constant, and drawing, painting, embroidery and composing as natural as breathing. Florencia’s work is mainly composed of and inspired by nature which she expresses through floral and botanical representations. These arise from deep emotional states and a constant desire to convey the complexity and beauty of nature.

Outside Argentina Florencia has held exhibitions across much of Spain including Barcelona, Madrid, Menorca, the Canary Islands and Granada. In 2022 she was asked to paint en plein air during the whole week of the United Nations Ocean Conference held in Lisbon, creating beautiful underwater oils of the planet’s underwater forests of seaweed and corals.
