‘A Palette Painting Day’, with Roger Dellar
At this free event, artist Roger Dellar will be demonstrating his approach to composing and oil painting a subject from life!
‘I will be doing a demo the day after the Private view, Wednesday the 24th at 11 o’clock, (for 3 hours) either inside or out. I will show how to compose a subject and capture the essence, if out, then how to use a photo image and select the essential structure without copying the image’ - Roger Dellar
About Roger Dellar
Painting for Roger Dellar is about personal development. It is an ongoing process never to be settled, always being inspired by another aspect of his painting, particularly paint surface and mark-making. The journey is from the painting’s concept to final end-result.
Roger says that he must have been a moth in his past life; always being drawn to the light.
His subject matter remains as always about people and their environments, their body language, whether in bars, interiors, markets, restaurants etc, but in recent times his interests have turned to landscape and coastal scenes, often painting from life, he is at his happiest painting plein air capturing the moment, and always with a sketchbook to hand.
