The art exhibitions you need to see in London in November 2026
For several years now, Caroline Ayles has been travelling through England, Spain and Mexico, visiting houses once lived in by some of the 20th century’s most important artists, writers, and thinkers, from the Bloomsbury Group to surrealists Salvador Dalí and Edward James. The Gallery at Green & Stone, SW3, is exhibiting the paintings that have resulted from these travels. Rather than recording the obvious – for instance the famous carpet bearing Tilly Losch’s wet footprints – her paintings look at the incidentals of life: Virginia Woolf’s glasses on her desk at Monk’s House, Lee Miller’s wellington boots in the hall at Farley’s, Vanessa Bell’s bedside table at Charleston Farmhouse.
