MYLES RYAN

MYLES RYAN

SEXY WOMEN IN COOL PLACES

‘Myles himself is a figure slightly out of time: in his early twenties, impossibly beautiful, often with a cigarette balanced between his fingers, he carries a kind of spectral glamour that belies the depth and seriousness of thought within his work.’

  • There are encounters with talent so arresting they recalibrate one’s sense of expectation. I remember vividly the first time Myles Ryan showed me a painting. There was no grand reveal, no theatrical pause or self-important flourish. He produced it almost casually, with the quiet ease of someone seemingly unaware of the magnitude of his own gift. If hidden talent is light kept under a bushel, then Myles was a sleeping mask in a darkened room. Until now, few had truly seen what he could do.

Myles himself is a figure slightly out of time: in his early twenties, impossibly beautiful, often with a cigarette balanced between his fingers, he carries a kind of spectral glamour that belies the depth and seriousness of thought within his work. His portraits are remarkable not only for their painterly command but for their unwavering respect toward their subjects.

This debut exhibition, running from the 1st to the 6th of December, presents a series of portraits honouring the strong women in his life; women he loves, admires, and celebrates.

There is no overstatement in these works, no trace of exploitation or artifice. Instead, his sitters are arranged with intention and dignity, each composition elevating their presence and emphasising strength, grace, and autonomy. Myles is, in truth, a comrade of women: their freedom of expression mirrored in his freedom to render them with unvarnished sincerity.

This is not an introduction to a new artist; it is the first glimpse of a career that promises to be as extraordinary as its beginnings are unassuming. Myles Ryan paints with integrity, devotion, and a quiet brilliance that deserves—at long last—to be seen.

Myles welcomes commissions and invites sitters to explore compositions collaboratively, creating portraits that amplify their power and presence. Waiting times may vary; please contact the gallery to discuss possibilities.
